Job Description

The Vice President of Sales will report directly to the Senior Vice President Sales, Wholesale and will have the responsibility for developing and executing our strategic customer development strategy in a “hands on approach” across the channels of Mass, Club, Department Stores, Electronics and Grocery.

We are looking for a Vice President of Sales to lead the early-stage development of US business model in both the small appliance (brewers) and the branded coffee & espresso categories. Partner and create immediate success with strategic retailers with a focus on building in-store programs balanced with a strong Retailer.com business. Additionally, this is an exciting sales leadership opportunity for someone to apply a strong and successful CPG background to a highly innovative and entrepreneurial business opportunity in the thriving coffee, espresso and small appliance categories.

Responsibilites:

  • Lead strategic development of the national wholesale business while co-owning customer relationships within the team. Drive towards building both in-store distribution along with Retailer.com business developing supporting for an efficient omni-channel strategy.
  • Support and participate in customer sell-in while also engaging customers at the strategic or executive level to drive long-term, sustainable growth plans.
  • Partner with SVP Sales to build out the national, cross-channel go-to-market plans including timelines, organization, budgets, and resources required to compete and win within categories.
  • Drive sales at strategic retailers by launching and then professionally manage portfolios with multiple SKUs, in a direct sales account management structure.
  • Lead by example and institute a “Best in Class” national account management culture, driving growth in Revenue and EBIT to exceed goals.
  • Collaborate with the Demand Planning and Supply Chain teams to optimize the flow of goods, including the monthly forecast cycle and long-range plans.
  • Direct and lead the Category Analytics team to create new and then sustain reporting to increase transparency of the business reporting on POS, trends, including the development of all customer selling presentations.
  • Manage strategic customer programming sell-in and monitoring of elements including pricing, rebates and trade and promotional spending.
  • Develop a Sales, Distribution and Merchandising plan taking a category (growth) leadership approach supported by syndicated data, retailer POS, consumer and shopper insights and other key industry data sources.
  • Attend industry trade events and at times take active role in implementing and executing.

Qualifications

  • A passion to sell! Execution focused to secure the business” and develop sales.
  • Minimum BA/BS degree
  • Demonstrated success in leading transformational growth within similar FMCG categories.
  • 10-15 years’ experience with National Accounts within the Food and/or Beverage (CPG) industry and/or small appliance or electronics industry working directly with the retailer in a buying or merchandising function.
  • Skilled in establishing trusted relationships, bridging organization to customers, and driving strategic deals to a close
  • Ability to simultaneously develop complementing categories by partnering with multiple buyers within same Retailer. Implement break-through or innovative selling solutions.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills to gather and analyze large sets of data both internally and externally, coupled with strong persuasive or negotiation skills working with a large retail account.
  • Strong business acumen and financially savvy with effective P&L management complimented by effective oral and written communication.
  • Passion for working within a fast paced, innovative, and highly entrepreneurial work environment.
  • Scaling & developing teams with an interest and desire to participate and lead DE&I initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to “manage up and down” within organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage detail and strict project timelines.
  • Adaptive presentation skills within various settings – video meetings, both smaller and larger in-person groups.

Additional Information

  • Experience or recent personal working relationships with several retailers in the following Channels: Mass, Club, Department Stores, Electronics and Grocery.
  • Position is remote, and must be open to travel and build relationships with customers at their respective headquarters, industry trade shows, company events, etc.
  • Broker Management experience is a plus.
  • Occasional travel to JDE US corporate headquarters located outside of Boston, MA.
